Tornado Watch Issued For Most Of New Jersey

tornThe National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for most of New Jersey.

The Tornado Watch is in effect for Atlantic; Burlington; Camden; Cape May; Cumberland; Gloucester; Hunterdon; Mercer; Middlesex; Monmouth; Morris; Ocean; Salem; Somerset; Sussex; and Warren counties until 10 p.m. Thursday.

A Tornado Watch means that weather conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that can produce tornadoes.

If you find yourself in the area affected by the Tornado Watch you should remain alert for approaching thunstorms.

A tornado is a violent rotating column of air that extends from the base of a thunderstorm to the ground, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s definition.
