Special Election Could Change Ramapo’s Future – Community Being Urged To Vote ‘NO’!

vnThe people of Ramapo have some big decisions to make today as a special election is being held that could change the way their local government is run.

The special election boils down to two questions on the ballot.

First, voters will have to decide if they want to increase the size of the town council from four members to six.

Secondly, the more controversial issue of whether to split the town into six geographical wards, with residents from each ward electing their own council members. Or voters could decide to just keep the current at-large system where council members don’t represent any specific area of town.

The polls are now open until 10 p.m. today.

Every single Mosod, organization, Yeshiva, all Rabbonim, Admorim, Roshei Yeshivos, and community activists are urging everyone to vote “NO”.

The unstated goal of the referendum is to weaken the political influence of Orthodox Jews in the town by permitting them to vote only for candidates from their immediate neighborhood rather than the town as a whole, which is the current system. The bulk of the Orthodox Jewish community would be concentrated in only two of six districts under the ward system.

This is classic minority vote dilution, only this time the victims are Orthodox Jews. A minority is being intentionally shoved into a small district to limit its ability to affect the outcome of elections in the community at large.

  1. I got 2 mailings. 1 signed by a number of Rabonnim to vote no and another signed by no-one saying to vote yes and that will make peace. Someone said last night that Rabbonim support that group but refused to name one.

  2. No Rabbanim could possibly support such a plan. It was created with the purpose of pretty much taking away all the representation frum people have!

I’ve heard that Preserve Ramapo paid some guy with to drive around Monsey with a loudspeaker announcing to vote yes in Yiddish. It’s awful…

  3. Please note: You do NOT have to be a registered voter to vote in this election. As long as you are a resident in the Town of Ramapo for 30 days then you “should” and could vote NO! Just bring an ID and probably some proof of residency.
    Preserve Ramapo are shlepping all – – – – – ummmm – – – don’t wanna say who – – – – to vote!
Please!! go out and shlep along any resident to VOTE!

  4. If you are not a registered voter, for some reason you dont need ANY ID or PROOF of RESIDENCE in ramapo. Just fill out that you have been living in ramapo for minimun 30 days.

  5. You should all be ashamed. Everyone should have an equal say. A small community shouldn’t control the masses. You deserve to lose and have to follow community law

  6. How can you believe all this brainwashing? Are you out of your minds? I n 15 years the town of ramapo will be a bigger slum than Harlem aal the taxpayers will move away. Ther will be flooding, no parks or trees and fillthy property because no one will pay taxes. Forget snow an garbage removal. There will be no police dept.wake up and smell the garbage.

  7. Modernjew, you my think you’re modern in your thinking, and that us non-modern frum Jews are all living off the taxes of the goyim around us. However, your biases and ignorance have been seen by self-hating Jews thoughout the generations. Unfortunately they brought problems to the rest of us, and left behind no Jewish generations.
