Vatican Model to End Har Habayis Violence

hhaUsing the Vatican model, Israel Police has embarked on a 4 million NIS plan to restore law and order on Har Habayis, Walla News reports. Minister of Public Security Yitzchak Aharonovich and Israel Police Chief Yochanan Danino have agreed on the plan in light of the escalating violence on the holy site. The plan includes installing gates that will detect metallic objects at all entrance points to Har Habayis. The plan calls for turning Har Habayis into a sterile area like the Vatican. A sources in the Ministry of Public Security quoted anonymously told Walla “The holy place will have high level security and the best troops available”.

The ministry and Israel Police command are working on the plan, pointing out the new gates will be placed in all areas including gates used by Muslims and non-Muslims. Anyone entering Har Habayis will be compelled to pass one of these gates.

Police hope to prevent anyone from bringing objects onto Har Habayis that can endanger security troops. Troops will be stationed on the site to prevent bringing in stones used in attacks against police and visitors.

Israel Police has set up a clandestine unit that was given a 4 million NIS budget to actualize the master plan. The operation is well underway, being carried out quietly and behind the scenes.

Officials also remain confident the new system will expedite entering to Har Habayis, make it more secure and thereby a more pleasant atmosphere.
