Marzel Will Not be Charged with Incitement Against Zoabi

marzIsrael’s state prosecutor has decided not to charge right-wing activist Baruch Marzel with incitement to violence against Arab MK Hanin Zoabi.

About three months ago, when Zoabi was campaigning for reelection to Knesset, Marzel arrived at a political event in Ramat Gan and promised “to wipe the smile from Zoabi’s face”. The two then engaged in a verbal confrontation and at some point, a right-wing activist threw water at Zoabi and Marzel refused to condemn the incident.

Officials weighed charging Marzel with incitement to violence but after examining the evidence officials realized Marzel himself did nothing illegal and this led to the realization that it was most unlikely to get a conviction against him in any court of law.
