Queens: NYPD Seek Driver Who Allegedly Hit, Killed Jewish Jeweler On Purpose

nypdPolice are looking for a driver who they say hit and killed a well-known jeweler on purpose.

Forty-year-old Aron Aranbayev, whose clients included hip hop and sports figures, was hit Sunday night by a dark-colored Dodge Magnum on 71st Avenue in Forest Hills. He died the next day of head injuries.

Aranbayev worked at a Manhattan jewelry store, which was closed Tuesday for his funeral.

“He’s given me my first break on this block, so yes, I want to go to his funeral,” said one person who attended the funeral. “He’s a very good guy.”

“It kind of hurts, you know. We give our close condolences to the family, and we hope everything will be alright,” said another.
Police have yet to name the suspect, but they say the driver knew Aranbayev and that the hit-and-run stemmed from a dispute between them.
