Petition to the High Court to Shut Discriminatory Elad Seminary

csgAttorney Yoav Lalum has petitioned the Supreme Court, seeking the closure of the Zluznik seminary in Elad and to ensure the placement of the over 100 girls who were not accepted to ninth grade in another appropriate school. The basis for the petition is the fact that over 100 Beis Yaakov graduates have been banned from entering Zluznik and the Ladaas Chachma seminaries because a new regulation prohibits accepting students from homes in which there are working parents.

Lalum is seeking to have the court instruct Education Minister Naftali Bennett and the Ministry Director-General to enforce an existing closure order against Zluznik, which has the official name of Darchei Chana. Lalum also asks the court to instruct Israel Police to enforce the pending closure order immediately and shut down Zluznik, which he explains is operating illegally. Lalum is also asking the court to halt school registration and to see to it that the over 100 girls who were rejected are placed in appropriate schools.

Lalum claims “Darchei Chana is taking advantage of the Education Ministry and Elad City Hall’s silence to do as it pleases”. He adds Elad Mayor Yisrael Porush has failed in his capacity as the overseeing authority, permitting the school to operate as it does within the confines of the Elad Municipality. He blames the mayor and Elad City Hall for failing to act appropriately, failing to enforce the closure order against Zluznik and worse, allocating a land for Zluznik’s new building despite the fact the school operates in violation of the law.

  1. Hashem yeraceim.

    Im ein kemach ein Torah,

Where does the money to support the seminaries and other institutions come from. Teaching and learning is a job as well. Where do our shelter, utilities, health care, staples and etc. come from? From the contractors, farmers, grocers, manufacturing plants, hospitals, physicians, pharmacists, industry, manufacturing and etc.

You are sick, to whom will you go? You need to be hospitalized, there is no one to man the hospitals, because we did not allow our children to further their education. I can go on and on..

Ad where do you think the money that supports all the institutions? From the working class, the working professionals.

One can be a true Torah observant Jew and yet earn a living. Dirshu Kollelim for the working Baalei Batim. Night Kolleim for the working Baalei Batim.

There are many mitzvos to be preformed thru out the day while working.

I will stop now allow others to pick up.
