BORUCH DAYAN HAEMMES: PETIRA OF THE TOSHER REBBE ZATZAL

Ar-7x0QZBeevkpPZ6Jq62ght0lC7tVpB1DQzAOLnrXkrYWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of the Tosher Rebbe ZATZAL at the age of 94.  The Levaya is tentatively scheduled for 6:00PM Wednesday in the big Shul in Kiryas Tosh.

The Chassidic community of Tosh is located in Kiryas Tosh, Quebec, Canada, outside of Boisbriand, a suburb of Montreal. The Rebbe, HaRav Meshulam Feish Segal-Lowy, one of the oldest admorim in the world, led his kehillah there and has built Batei Medrashim in Boro Park, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Kiryas Yoel, Monsey and London. He was renowned for his tzidkus, dikduk b’mitzvos and intense avodas Hashem.

Thousands upon thousands of Yidden had traveled to Kiryas Tosh to seek his Brachos over the years. Countless stories of miracles are told by people who recieved Brachos from the Rebbe.

The Rebbe was born in Nyirtass, Hungary in 5682 Anno Mundi (1921 or 1922). He survived the Holocaust in the Hungarian Labour Service, and was liberated by the Red Army from a camp outside Marghita in October 1944. The few surviving Chasidim of his father, who perished in Auschwitz with most of his extended family, appointed him their Rebbe and he established his court in Nyíregyháza. In 1951, fearing the Communist government, he ordered his followers to leave Hungary and emigrated to Canada, settling in Montreal. In 1963, he and his Chasidim purchased an area in Boisbriand, Quebec, forming the enclave of Kiryas Tosh. The Rebbe was married to Chava (née Weingarten), a direct descendant of Rebbe Elimelech of Lizhensk, from 1946 until her death in 1996. He remarried with Rebbitzen Malka Hass in 2007.

Baruch Dayan Haemes…..
