Poor Visibility Caused by Day 2 of Severe Haze Leads to Flight Cancellations in Israel

The skies in Israel are hazy on Wednesday 25 Elul for a second consecutive day. While conditions are better than on Tuesday, visibility is still limited. As a result, Arkia Airlines announced the cancelation of all domestic flights on Wednesday. Flights are expected to resume on Thursday morning and airline officials’ hope to add an early morning flight to Eilat from Ben-Gurion Airport on Thursday as well.

Other domestic airports announces cancelations and delays due to the weather conditions as well. Israir announced the cancelation of all domestic flights until 17:00.

Magen David Adom and Ichud Hatzalah on Tuesday reported a sharp increase in calls related to the weather, most from persons with respiratory distress. The EMS organizations urge people with chronic cardiac and respiratory conditions to remain in air conditioned environments if possible as well as small children, the elderly and pregnant women.
