Security Returns to [Most] Chareidi Schools in Yerushalayim

argKikar Shabbos News reports that its revelation of the lack of security in chareidi schools in Yerushalayim has led to the city acting and restoring the security on Thursday, 2 Cheshvan. This refers to most but not all chareidi mosdos in the capital. It is pointed out that security has been restored to Yeshivas Kol Torah in Bayit Vegan along with other yeshivos.

Other mosdos listed, those that report security has been restored include;

· Talmud Torah Chakrei Lev

· Talmud Torah HaMesila (Ramot)

Following the Kikar report there was outrage as clearly the chareidi schools were being discriminated against as the security was restored to public schools, thereby ending a strike surrounding the lack of security.

In Modi’in Illit, efforts continue to provide the necessary security for many schools that are still lacking according to City Hall but many residents feel not enough is being done in light of the ongoing security crisis in the country.

  1. I’m flabbergasted at this picture! Never have I seen anything like this in Eretz Yisroel!
Where are these people’s bitachoin? What a bitul toirah! This kli zayin lemilchama is merida in umois ha’oilam!
Is this the example we want to be giving our tashbar???
    SHREI GEVALD!!!

  2. what’s the problem, #5? PIKUACH NEFESH IS DOCHE KOL HATORAH KULA!!! There certainly is a CHIUV to carry that gun, as mentioned in orach chayim hilchos shabos, we are MECHALEL SHABOS and take clei zayin EVEN IN CHU”L if there is a sakana

  3. perhaps its because of ridiculous comments like #5 that the chareidi schools get “neglected.” the community that compares the idf to nazis, the community that preaches that it’s better to go to jail than to enlist, the community that refuses to contribute to the idf, DEMANDS that the idf’s security spend personnel, money, and time on their schools???

you can’t condemn something and then beg it to protect you.

and if you do, don’t be surprised when you’re polled as the most hated population in israel.

  4. #8:
    1. It is not “the (entire) community.” I don’t think anyone has ever heard any rav or rosh yeshiva make such comparisons.
    2. Stamyid is not demanding IDF protection. He seems to think that relying on bitachon is sufficient and no human guard is necessary. It appears the rabbonim disagree. Perhaps he’s upset at the sight of a chareidi Jew holding a rifle. Well, over here it in not entirely unheard of. In Flatbush and BP, frum Jews are seen wearing Hatzola vests a sporting flashing lights on their cars; here some carry rifles …
    3. Did you conduct a poll who is most hated in Israel? And it’s not the Ishmaelites?

  5. American yerushalmi, I believe justajew6 is referring to the poll recently conducted in Israel that shows the chareidi sector is the most hated.

Justajew6 definitely has a good point. Do you think this Letz ever enlisted? Very slight chance.
We (and the gedoylim) can’t have our cake and eat it. Either it’s mutar to enlist or it’s assur. Since it’s assur we shouldn’t be wasting our time playing make believe soldiers and presenting a bad example to our kinderlach who the rabbunim say shouldn’t have such aspirations.

That’s why this is such a ridiculous picture.
