Sunday AM News Briefs from Israel


ywnisrael.israel· Police report that a bus traveling in Hadera was hit by a tree downed in the winter storm resulting in a passenger sustaining serious injuries. The injured passenger, in her 20s, was transferred to Hillel Yafeh Hospital.

· The levaya for talmid yeshiva Simcha Chodetov z”l, who was killed when mistaken to be a terrorist in Jerusalem last week, will take place on Sunday 12 Cheshvan at 15:00 in the Yarkon Cemetery in Petach Tikvah.

· Me’oras HaMachpelah officials report that beginning on Sunday 12 Cheshvan, for the entire duration of standard time, the Machpelah will open at 4:00 AM and close at 9:00 PM. When closed, one may daven at the seventh step.

· Meteorologist Nachum Malik told Reshet Bet Radio the unseasonably warm temperatures over recent days are the cause for the unexpected high wind gusts, ranging from 100-120 KPH (60-72 MPH). The winds are expected to continue throughout the day and temperatures will as a result drop significantly, bringing an end to the unseasonably hot weather experienced in recent days.

· A large tent collapsed in Yishuv Har Bracha in the Shomron due to the winds. A 17-year-old male was sustained light-to-moderate injuries. He was transported to Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah. In addition, a 20-year-old female was very lightly injured and did not require transport to a hospital.
