pollardn1-300x181According to a Washington Post report, Obama administration officials state President Barak Obama will not intervene to permit Jonathan Pollard to move to Israel will released from a federal prison.

The restrictions that will govern Pollard’s release include remaining in the United States, under supervision for a period of five year. There is hope that the president will intervene, using his executive power to waive this restriction to permit him to live in Israel. There is even hope that Mr. Pollard will be permitted to return home to Israel with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu when the Israeli leader returns from Washington from his current visit.

According to the US Federal Bureau of Prisons website, Pollard is scheduled for release on November 21, 2015.

The post quotes Pollard attorney Eliot Lauer saying that while Mr. Pollard has employment and a place to live, he wishes to join his wife, Esther in Israel.

  1. Does Israeli really want him and does he really want to go? He’s gotten very bitter about the way they’ve treated him, and he might well be better off in the US. Keep davening for him, until he’s actually out, and until he adjusts to his new life he still needs tefillos. In any case, he also needs privacy and not to be made into a public figure as he goes through this process.
