WoW Organization Calls on Politicians to Boycott Official Candle Lighting at Kosel during Chanukah

koselThe Woman of the Wall organization is calling on elected officials to boycott officially candle lighting ceremonies at the Kosel during Chanukah because they feel the ceremonies are discriminatory against women.

In the letter sent to President Reuven Rivlin, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, opposition leader Yitzchak Herzog, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel director-general, the organization explains the mitzvah of lighting Chanukah candles is the same for men and women and therefore, they request a parallel candle lighting ceremony in the ezras noshim of the Kosel. “The mitzvah is greater with more people lighting” they point out.

The letter points out to the officials that they are invited to the candle lighting annually in the capacity of their public position, and therefore, they are asking them not to agree to participate until the discrimination ends – asking for a duplicate ceremony for the women.

  1. “the organization explains the mitzvah of lighting Chanukah candles is the same for men and women”. “The mitzvah is greater with more people lighting”

    Hilarious.

So nice to see them concerned with the proper way to do a mitzvah.

  2. The WallNuts don’t realize that the elected officials invited are all male – so they can’t go to the Women off the Wall ceremony.

  3. In today’s crazy, mixed up world, they can just claim they are now men. Especially since they sure don’t want to act like women. It’s only the men’s mitzvos that interest them.
They can light candles every single week. But nooooooooo, not got enough. They want to light them once a year.

  4. I hear their neshomos screaming out to us to daven for them to get them out of the klipos they’ve been trapped in. May Hashem help them all do teshuva shleima.
