Defense Ministry to Recognize Tel Aviv Assault Against a Woman as an Act of Terror

isIn an unusual decision, the Defense Ministry unit responsible for classifying attacks has announced a “assault” in Tel Aviv’s City Park in 2012 is being recognized as an act of terror. As a result of the ministry’s decision, the woman who was victimized is recognized as a victim of terror and is entitled to government assistance including from Bituach Leumi.

The woman’s attorney turned to state officials in 2013 explaining there is evidence pointing to the attack being an act of terror. The women, 20, turned to state officials in March with the same claim. She was 17 at the time of the attack.

The investigation into the attack took a number of months. The announcement recognizing the attack as an act of terror was released on Thursday morning 21 Kislev. It is reported the attack was perpetrated by Ahmed Jaber, an illegal PA (Palestinian Authority) resident who was in Tel Aviv. Because of the violent nature of the attack, Jaber was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment.
