Hearing Set For NY Man Charged With Aiding ISIS


mufA New York pizza shop owner charged with trying to aid the Islamic State group and plotting to kill U.S. soldiers is scheduled to appear before a federal judge.

Mufid Elfgeeh of Rochester was charged in 2014. Additional charges last year accuse him of assaulting three jail deputies while in custody.

A hearing is scheduled for Thursday morning in U.S. District Court in Rochester.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Investigators say that Elfgeeh was born in Yemen and is a naturalized U.S. citizen. He operated a convenience store and pizza shop in Rochester at the time of his arrest.
