Another Blow to PM Netanyahu as the High Court Undermines His Natural Gas Policy Decision

bibThe High Court of Justice on Sunday, 17 Adar-II ruled the controversial plan for Israel’s newly-found natural gas will be dismissed in a year’s time, giving Knesset that period of time to formulate a plan that is approved by elected officials rather than a plan unilaterally decided upon by the Prime Minister.

The current plan, which is viewed as objectionable by many, does not impose regulatory changes on the gas industry for the coming decade. The court objects to the fact the decision was made by the Prime Minister and pushed through without involving the state Antitrust Authority which is responsible for regulation.
