YWN-ISRAEL reported that Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon requested a kosher menu option in the UN cafeteria. Danon sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon explaining the need for such an option as there are many who would benefit from a kosher option. He also pointed out that there is a halal option for Muslims.

In this case, Israel, or perhaps just Danon, can register a victory as the secretary-general has responded positively and the UN will be offering a kosher option in its cafeteria beginning on Monday, 29 Tishrei 5777.
