Opposition Leader Herzog To Amona Residents: You Are Violating The Commandment ‘Don’t Steal’

1Based on the High Court of Justice decision ordering the ousting of Jews from Amona, which the court determined was built on PA (Palestinian Authority) land, opposition leader MK Yitzchak Herzog feels that the residents of the community are violating the commandment prohibiting stealing.

Herzog addressed the Amona controversy in his opening remarks of the Knesset winter session which took place earlier this week. Herzog called on residents of Amona to leave immediately and return the land to its rightful owners. He said the court ruled on the matter back in December 2014 after determining the land did not belong to the community’s Jewish residents.

  1. It is a hillul HaShem that the grandson of the first chief rabbi of Israel (who also is named after him) shows such ignorance of Torah. Even if this land really belonged to an Arab (which it never did, except that King Hussein of Jordan gave out illegally parts of state land to local Arabs for tax purposes, who never worked or populated it), we have a principle that karka eina nigzelet, and all of Eretz Yisrael belongs to the Jewish people.

  2. So he considers part of Hashem’s holy land of Israel to the Jews to be stolen land, hmm… He should take it up with Hashem.
