Hundreds of people who have been waiting in the Javits Center for Hillary Clinton’s election night party are captivated — and nearly silent — as they watch CNN’s John King and the Magic Wall explain this closer-than-expected contest in Florida.
There is no cheering, CNN’s Jeff Zeleny reports. Literally hundreds of people have their necks craned at the big screen, watching county-by-county returns.
The festive atmosphere featuring Clinton commercials and music has given way to a state-by-state accounting of how close this race is.

A Donald Trump campaign official tells CNN’s Jim Acosta that Florida “is the hurdle to clear.” The feeling is that a victory in the Sunshine State essentially keeps them alive for the rest of the night.
Every time the totals are updated at Trump HQ, cheers go out.
