Donald Trump ‘To Announce US Embassy Will Move From Tel Aviv To Jerusalem On Monday’

embasy-telavivThe White House will on Monday announce that the US embassy in Israel is to move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, according to an unconfirmed report by an Israeli news outlet.

Channel 2 cited an anonymous source as saying a member of the Trump administration would announce the highly controversial move on the President’s first full working day in office.

The news channel said it had received no confirmation of the claim and there has been no public statement on the move since Friday’s inauguration of the new US President.

Relocating the US embassy to Jerusalem would represent a major break with US policy.

Donald Trump has said repeatedly that he intends to relocate the US embassy to Jerusalem, despite warnings the move would violate international law and destroy the peace process.

Earlier in January, US officials and Israeli Foreign Ministry sources said the incoming US ambassador to Israel could be based in Jerusalem, while the official embassy building remains in Tel Aviv.

Mr Trump has also appointed a new US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, who is considered a supporter of settlements.

Meanwhile, Israel has approved building permits for hundreds of homes in three East Jerusalem settlements.

Israel expects Mr Trump to end the US government’s criticism of building projects.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to speak with Mr Trump by telephone on Sunday.

“We strongly condemn the Israeli decision to approve the construction,” Nabil Abu Rdainah, spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, told Reuters.

  1. Violate International Law?

Where are the embassies for other countries?

Any country that has a problem, should move their Embassy from Washington DC up to Philadelphia or down to Richmond.

    It makes no sense!

  2. There is no reason to celebrate until the embassy is actually moved. Hopefully he will not change his mind at the last moment.

  3. #1 Arabs only understand and respect power and firmness. You have to show you’re not scared of them and there no reason to appease them.

  4. all for the sake of politics as usual, but the decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem- what do we really gain from it? Do our leaders in Israel really care about the untold bloodshed and terror-and maybe war this decision will cause?… we who are living here in Israel–are the ones who will pay for it in the end.

  5. Why is moving the embassy such a big deal? Isn’t it obvious that it’s way overdue? The only reason it hasn’t been moved is because people like Kerry are afraid of the Arabs getting huffy and puffy. Sort of like parents who know if they don’t let their toddler get his way, he’s going to through a major tantrum.

  6. So I guess if there are any dead or injured yidden as a consequence of the inevitable riots and demonstrations, we should assume they will be characterized as “necessary collateral damage” in the cause of a poorly thought out political pledge. He might have waited for his son-in-law Kushner, who is supposed to be the “negotiator” of a middle east settlement to at least have a chance to establish himself as a fair and neutral broker but this is probably how the “Art of Deal” works Trumpstyle.

  7. Maybe if the Palestinians get the message that every time there is a terror attack, another settlement will be built they might stop the attcks. Giving in to them HAS NEVER STOPPED terrorism, to the contrary it usually causes more.(Remember 2006 post GAZA withdrawal) It might just be that acting strong now including moving the embassy might actually stop attacks and get them to the negotiating table.

  8. this is terrible so many frum yidden thinks that the trumps will build the beis hamikdash yet it is obvious this will renew violence and what is the point of having the embassy there to annoy the goyim we are in galus duh

  9. To No. 16

Hopefully, you are right. Everyone agrees the Embassy should ultimately be in Yerushalayim….only question is whether doing it right now will make it more difficult for Kushner to establish some credibility compared to Kerry who was a disaster that neither side trusted completely.

  10. People need to stop being opinionated and idiotic.

United States law requires the embassy to be moved to Jerusalem. It already is u.s. law. Look it up.

    He’s not being michadesh anything.

  11. To # 12 – fenster613:

There will be no embassies near the Bais Hamikdosh nor anywhere else in the world’s capital Eretz Yisroel.

    ……………וִיקַבְּלוּ עֹל מַלְכוּתְֿךָ עֲלֵיהֶם……………

  12. #6, Aryeh and # 16, etzhar, you’re both right on the money! Just as Moshe Rabbeinu thought that when being מקיים מצות ה’ by hitting the rock instead of talkng to it because “rock language is rough and tough” so too, the only things arabs understand is rough and tough! Appeasing them accomplishes more terrorism! They see that as a weakness just as the dog does when he sees someone running from him! Ronald Reagen spoke tough and he accomplished! That’s called talking NICE to them!

  13. What r u guys kvetching about this embassy move so much for???

For two thousand years we faced the american embassy in jaffo and prayed that america would please let us move it to jerusalem, finally this meshugah is ready to do it and your complaining about someone getting hurt!

Every year thousands of people die for all sorts of reasons. Who would have thiught a little piece of real estate would cause u guys so much grief!
