Massive Water Main Break In The Bronx Stops 4 Trains, Delays Buses, Vehicles Submerged Under Water

A water main break in the Bronx is causing problems for commuters and residents.

The 52-inch pipe broke around 4 a.m. and was reported around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday in the vicinity of Jerome Avenue and East 177th Street.

The water has been shut off and has started to recede in some areas but is still knee-high in many spots.

Some water has reached the Cross Bronx Parkway but police are still allowing motorists to drive through.

As a result of the break, there’s no service on the No. 4 subway between 167th Street and Bedford Park Boulevard.

Delays and detours also are reported on the following bus routes: the BX1, BX2, BX3, BX18, BX32, BX36, BX40 and BX42.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and detours in the area.

The break is wreaking havoc on commutes and residents in the area.

Emergency crews are on the scene.

    lets start fishing and maybe we can catch a gefilta fish or maybe some crockedils that they have swimming down there.

    This doesn’t make sense; the #4 Jerome Avenue line is above ground in that part of the Bronx.
