Update On Soldiers Injured In Weekend IDF Tank Mishap


The following update on injured IDF soldiers was provided by the Soroka Medical Center’s Spokesman’s Unit on Tuesday, 2 Iyar. The update refers to the operational tank mishap that occurred, which claimed the life of 22-year-old soldier, Sgt. Eliyahu Drori Z”L of Beit Shemesh.

The three remaining tank crew members were transported to Soroka in Beersheva, with two listed in serious condition and the third light at the time of their arrival.

According to the update, provided by Dr. Amir Frenkel, a senior physician in the hospital’s intensive care medicine states there is an improvement in the condition of a soldier in the ICU, who is now alert, conscious and breathing without mechanical assistance. He is being moved to a plastic surgery unit, suffering from burns, primarily to his upper body. He is now listed in moderate condition.

The second soldier remains in serious condition, still intubated and on a respirator in an ICU. He is being treated by a team including intensive care medicine, plastic surgery and surgical specialists.
