Hamas officials in Gaza on Sunday released statements calling for elections in PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous areas throughout Yehuda and Shomron. Hamas of late has stated on numerous occasions that it views Abu Mazen’s term as ending in January, and does not plan to recognize his leadership post after that time.
Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah is working to expand his powerbase to areas in Yehuda and Shomron, currently under Abu Mazen and his Fatah Party.
