A 5-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured in Betar Illit on Monday near a crosswalk on Baba Sali Street, the daily HaMevaser reports. The victim was transported to the trauma unit of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.
The driver explained to police the small child simply ran into the street, and he simply could not stop in time. Police questioned the driver and suspended his license for a number of days.
Officials reported that the child sustained internal head injuries and remains comatose.
