Some twenty special needs children were hosted on Shabbos in Karnei Shomron, in the community’s hesder yeshiva, where 50 volunteers did what they could to give these special neshamas a memorable Shabbos. The ‘Nofshon Shomron’ project seeks to give both parents and children a break, an opportunity for a change of pace, hosting them for Shabbos as well as some weekday activities in the same area.

The children were also taken to a nearby army base, where IDF combat engineering soldiers received them warmly, giving them a day to remember. The one-week program brings a smile to these special children, whose day-to-day lives include many unique challenges.
A number of agencies assist in sponsoring this special project, including the Aviad Fund, Shalem Fund, the Ministry of Social Welfare and Bituach Leumi.
