Sullivan County: 911 Phone Service Restored; Travel Restrictions Removed

Sullivan County Manager David P. Fanslau has removed restrictions on travel in Sullivan, with precautions, and the Declaration of a State of Emergency for Sullivan County will be rescinded effective at 5:00 AM on Monday, August 29, 2011.  The County of Sullivan is continuing communications with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service to monitor any continuing impacts from Hurricane Irene.

Verizon has restored Sullivan County’s 911 Emergency Telephone Service.  Residents may reliably dial 911 in the event of an emergency, and the Sheriff’s Office emergency telephone system is back online as well.  I want to thank all of the local volunteer emergency responders for staffing the local Fire Departments during the 911 service disruption.

All Sullivan County offices will open for regularly scheduled hours on Monday, August 29, 2011,” said Fanslau.
