National Infrastructure Minister (Labor) Binyamin (Fuad) Ben-Eliezer believes the current water crisis is due in no small part to the treasury. The minister is calling for a commission of inquiry into the current water crisis, blaming a number of clerks in the Finance Ministry for sabotaging the construction of water de-salination plants and other water treatment facilities that should have been up-and-running today.
Ben-Eliezers ministry is responsible for the nations water, and he contends that it is the treasury that has halted progress on water issues since the beginning of 2008, now almost a decade ago.
In response to the ministers accusation, the treasury released a statement that the National Infrastructure Ministrys handling of the nations water over recent years has been scandalous.
