The Palestinian Authority condemned Jewish groups for blowing the shofar on Har HaBayis during Elul, calling it a “dangerous tool” meant to assert Israeli sovereignty in Yerushalayim and alleging that what is traditionally a millennia-old call to teshuvah has become an attempt to impose control over the Makom HaMikdash, describing the soundings as a “direct assault” on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and holding the Israeli government fully responsible for any repercussions.
