Knesset Approves NIS 1.8B Budget Transfer to Ultra-Orthodox and Settlement Education

Israel’s Knesset Finance Committee has approved the transfer of about 1.8 billion shekels from the state budget reserve, directing most of the funds to ultra-Orthodox education networks, religious institutions, and settlement-related education, as part of coalition agreements.

Opposition lawmakers protested the move, citing concerns over limited oversight and exemptions from core curriculum requirements. The measure passed with the coalition majority.
