The IDF confirms it eliminated several senior figures in Iran’s security leadership in this morning’s surprise opening strikes in Tehran, after Military Intelligence identified two locations where top officials had convened.
Among those killed:
• Ali Shamkhani – senior defense official, former IRGC Navy and Iranian army chief, and top adviser to Ayatollah Khamenei. Israel previously targeted him in last June’s war.
• Mohammad Pakpour – IRGC commander who led Iran’s “plan to destroy Israel,” oversaw missile and drone attacks, backed proxy forces, and commanded the violent suppression of recent protests.
• Salah Asadi – intelligence chief in Iran’s military emergency headquarters and senior armed forces intelligence officer, also involved in the “plan to destroy Israel.”
• Mohammad Shirazi – head of Khamenei’s military bureau since 1989 and key liaison between Iran’s top commanders and the Supreme Leader.
• Aziz Nasirzadeh – Iran’s defense minister, responsible for long-range missile production, weapons transfers to proxies, and oversight of SPND’s nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons projects.
• Hossein Jabal-Amelian – chairman of SPND, responsible for advanced weapons and WMD development.
• Reza Mozafari-Nia – former SPND chairman who advanced efforts to develop nuclear weapons.
The IDF describes the operation as a direct blow to the core of Iran’s military and strategic leadership.
