British police arrested four men on Friday on suspicion of assisting Iranian intelligence services in carrying out surveillance of people and locations linked to the Jewish community in London, authorities said.
Detectives said one of the suspects is an Iranian national, while the other three hold dual British-Iranian citizenship. The men, aged between 22 and 55, were arrested in Barnet in north London and in Watford.
UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said: “The Jewish community and the wider public will understandably be concerned by today’s arrests. We continue to monitor the situation closely.”
