YWN regrets to inform you of the petirah of HaRav Chaim Yisroel Abadi z”l, founder and rov of “Minyan Shelanu” in Lakewood, a groundbreaking kehilla that helped countless struggling and at-risk teens over the years.

Rav Abadi was among the longtime residents of Lakewood from before the city’s explosive growth, and was widely regarded as a visionary in the field of chinuch. At a time when few openly addressed the challenges facing struggling youth, he devoted himself tirelessly to helping them with warmth, understanding, and unwavering dedication.

Over the years, Minyan Shelanu became a lifeline for many families and bochurim seeking guidance, acceptance, and support.

Rav Abadi had been battling illness for some time and was in critical condition in recent days before being niftar over Shabbos.

The levaya is scheduled to take place at 10 AM Sunday at The Minyan, 145 Ocean Avenue in Lakewood. Kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel.
