
A NJ Transit train fatally struck a trespasser Wednesday morning at Red Bank station, officials said. The incident involved North Jersey Coast Line train No. 3218 around 6:20 a.m., shortly after it departed Long Branch at 6:08 a.m. and was scheduled to reach New York Penn Station at 7:39 a.m.
Service on the North Jersey Coast Line was suspended between Long Branch and Matawan following the incident, with substitute bus service provided in its place. NJ Transit said no injuries were reported among the train’s crew or the 55 passengers on board.
