U.S. Reportedly Moves Toward Dropping Criminal Case Against Gautam Adani, Pursuing SEC Settlement Over Fraud Allegations

U.S. authorities are reportedly moving to resolve fraud cases against Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, with the Justice Department potentially preparing to drop criminal charges as soon as this week, Bloomberg reports.

The SEC is also said to be working toward settling a parallel civil fraud case filed in November 2024. Any SEC resolution would likely include a monetary penalty.

Adani and his companies were accused by U.S. prosecutors of helping drive a $250 million bribery scheme tied to solar-energy contracts in India, allegations the Adani Group has consistently denied.
