Lander targeted our Yeshivas and now he’s running to be our Congressman

During the 2025 New York City mayoral race, candidates were asked whether schools that fail to meet state education standards should face penalties.

While framed broadly, many in our community understood the real target was yeshivas. Brad Lander was the only candidate to raise his hand in support of penalties. At the B’nai Jeshurun candidate forum, candidates were again asked who supports penalizing schools that do not comply. Once again, Lander stood alone. No other candidate publicly supported such measures.

The language may be about “standards,” but the impact is on our yeshivas, our independence, and our children’s chinuch. Now, Lander is running against Congressman Dan Goldman — someone who has shown support for our community and has maintained a positive relationship with our leaders and mosdos.

Lander is also being backed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani, whose politics are far removed from the values of the Boro Park community.

As this race unfolds, Boro Park voters should remember who stood with our community — and who stood ready to penalize our yeshivas.
