Israel Says New Hamas Military Chief Targeted in Gaza Strike Over October 7 Role

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz released a statement following the attempted assassination of Mohammed Odeh, the new head of Hamas’s military wing and one of the architects of the October 7 massacre.

Odeh served as Hamas’s intelligence chief during the October 7 attack and was appointed roughly a week ago to replace Izz al-Din al-Haddad, who was killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza around two weeks ago.

Odeh was responsible for the murder, kidnapping, and wounding of numerous Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, while Israel vowed it “will reach all” those involved in the October 7 massacre “sooner or later.”
