NOT WAR — YET: Trump Reportedly Tells Iran Strikes Were Retaliation, Not Full-Scale Conflict

President Trump has not abandoned diplomacy with Iran, despite growing frustration with the pace of negotiations, according to a report in the WSJ.

After approving additional strikes this week, Trump reportedly instructed aides to tell Tehran through Qatari mediators that the attacks were a response to the drone incident that nearly killed an Apache helicopter crew — not the start of a full-scale war.

U.S. officials said Washington has signaled that military pressure will intensify unless Iran accepts the terms of a proposed agreement.
The strikes were intended to increase U.S. leverage and accelerate negotiations.
