A senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a chilling warning on Thursday, threatening to “turn the region into hell” if the Strait of Hormuz is threatened amid rapidly escalating tensions between Iran and the United States.

Brig. Gen. Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, made the remarks after Iran claimed the strategic waterway had been closed following a new wave of American military strikes.

“You make the sacred Strait of Hormuz insecure?! We will turn the region into hell for you from across Iran,” Mousavi declared, according to Iranian state-linked media.

The threat comes as fighting between the United States and Iran appears to be intensifying across the Persian Gulf.

Iranian media claimed that Revolutionary Guard forces launched retaliatory attacks against American military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain. According to a statement carried by state-run media, Iranian forces targeted multiple U.S. military installations, including air bases used by American forces in the Gulf.

Kuwait’s military confirmed that its air defense systems were activated to intercept hostile aerial threats and urged residents to follow official safety instructions.

The latest threats follow a series of U.S. strikes on Iranian military targets, including air defense systems, radar installations, and facilities near the Strait of Hormuz. Washington has rejected Tehran’s claim that it successfully closed the vital maritime chokepoint, with U.S. officials stating that commercial shipping continues to transit the waterway.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy corridors, with roughly one-fifth of global oil shipments passing through the narrow passage.

Any disruption to traffic through the strait could have immediate consequences for global energy markets, international shipping, and economies around the world.
