30 Shoppers Hid In Jewish Market Freezer To Avoid Being Taken Hostage

Shoppers in fear of losing their lives made a split decision to hide in a refrigerated food storage room for as long as five hours after Islamic terrorists took control of a Jewish kosher market in east Paris.

One of the shoppers, Johan Dorre, was able to call someone on a cell phone and notify them that people were trapped two floors below the ground floor of the market, where six hostages were being held by Coulibaly at gunpoint.

The Daily Mail reports that Dorre and the other shoppers were terrified that the attackers would discover them hiding below.

Due to freezing temperatures of the food storage room, shoppers had no choice but to huddle together for warmth to avoid hypothermia.

Jacob Katorza, an uncle that Dorre phoned while holed up in the freezer said the following:

“Then we just stood at the barriers for five hours and waited for news. It was terrible- the longest five hours of my life. We know these people are monsters and would not hesitate to kill Jewish people. They targeted the supermarket because it was run by Jews … In the past year 7,000 Jews have already left France and after this there will be many thousands more. We are not safe in France any more.”

  1. The first sentence of the article is incorrect. One of the employees of the kosher market (who is a Muslim!) led them to the freezer and told them to hide inside of it.
