A police officer was attacked in Harlem, New York Wednesday morning on her way to work, police reported.
The 43-year-old was off duty while heading to work at the�NYPD Housing Bureau�s PSA 5, located at 221 East 123rd Street in Harlem.
�Sergeants don�t wear uniforms to work, so she was in plain clothes. It is not known whether her shield was visible,��ABC New York�reported.
The assault occurred�at around 6:50 a.m. at 125th Street and Lenox Avenue.
An emotionally unstable male punched and kicked the officer, knocking her to the ground. The officer suffered a laceration over the left eye and bruises to her head, but was not seriously hurt.
The 43-year-old officer was�transported�to Mount Sinai St. Luke�s Hospital.
The suspect fled north on Lenox Avenue and is still at large.
Police say he is about 6-feet-tall, 200 pounds and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and a baseball cap with orange, blue and white trim.
