Representatives of communities in the Benjamin and Shomron Regional Councils in Shomron are calling on IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gabi Ashkenazi not to remove checkpoints in Shomron in compliance with Defense Minister Ehud Barak�s plan to ease restrictions on PA (Palestinian Authority) residents.

The representatives explain that at present, a time during which there is a sharp increase in terror attacks against Jews on roads in Yehuda and Shomron, removing checkpoints is nothing less than �gambling with the lives of residents� to satisfy a political yearning that will undoubtedly prove erroneous.
