Health Minister Yaakov Litzman came out on Wednesday, 10 Adar against Super-Pharm for its Chilul Shabbos.
The nationwide chain if stores contain pharmacies as well as many other products. Litzman feels that since they have the pharmacies, they are abusing the license and opening the entire store on Shabbos. The items they sell include perfumes, cosmetics, detergents, shampoos, deodorants, diapers, and a great deal more. Litzman contends the sale of all the other items, those not included in the pharmacy, is a violation of the Shabbos law.
The minister accuses the stores of conducting business as usual and demands legal action be taken to stop this in the future.
