Pepper Spray Used to Prevent Rav Amnon Yitzchak from Speaking

The flames of dispute that escort the upcoming general elections, which are scheduled to be held on Tuesday 11 Shevat 5773, seem to be reaching new unacceptable proportions. During a speaking event in Beit Shemesh hosting Koach L’Hashpiah Party leader Rav Amnon Yitzchak, pepper spray was used to disrupt the rav’s shiur.

The rav arrived surrounded by security personnel and police while dozens of local residents shouted at him to leave their city. The rav nevertheless made it to the podium and then boos were heard as signs against him were held up by opponents condemning his actions against Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita.

As the rabbi was seated, preparing to deliver his shiur the ruckus began with some opponents waving Shas banners while supporters of Rav Amnon tried to distance them. The shouting quickly deteriorated into a physical dispute and then those present began feeling the effects of pepper spray, thereby eliminating any chance of the rav addressing the tzibur.

The rav’s security personnel surrounded him and pushed him to a safe area, where they waited until police arrived to escort them out safely.

  1. Ah, truly religious G-d fearing people who act in accordance with the Torah, ah, a sight to behold. Unfortunately, it is not to be found here.

  2. Quite ironic — Rav Shalom Arush spoke also in Bet Shemesh last night to a diverse crowd of residents. He finished his shiur by emphasizing how important it is to distance ourselves from machlokes — especially during these times.

my comment is not a negative “jab” at Rav Amnon Yitzchok. I simply want to urge every yid to RUN FROM MACHLOKES!!!!

  3. #4 / EY Yid, Of course your comment isn’t a jab at Rav Amnon Yitzchak. He’s perfectly entitled to come and speak without getting harrased by the political thugs of the opposing parties. It’s the rhetoric from those chareidi parties that unfortunately add to the already misplaced radicalism found in some of their supporters. Perhaps it’s time for the chareidi parties to stop using rabbanim or their version of halacha to support their bashing of others’ opinions. THAT would be running from machlokes and would be a welcome change for G-d fearing people.

  4. Let us not forget that this man, only yesterday, suggested that Shas and Rav Ovadia would be HV’S be mechalel shabbos to gain more seats in the upcoming elections (refering to the Ravs minor stroke on shabbos).

Immagine that this was suggested about rav shteinmann? I felicitate the towns people for succesfully stopping this charlatan from speaking.

I understand YWN supports gimmel, but i think its time to take a stand regarding amnon yitzhak. If thats to dificult, try replacing hacham ovadia’s name with reb shteinmann’s then you might see the light.

Moderators Note: YWN has never supported any candidate, party etc in any election in the world.

    Now, what were you saying?

  5. To the Moderator.

It is true that YWN never announced it supported Gimmel directly, however it would be mind boggling if this “frum news website”, named YESHIVA WORLD!, did not follow YESHIVA WORLD gedolim instructions?!

    Now, what were you saying?

Moderators Response: Yeshiva University is a Yeshiva too. Just sayin…..

  6. We need Moshiach, period!!!!

We are all Meshuga from the golus!

Everyone deep down means “l’shaim Shomayim” but have no idea how to go about it.

    I’m not being sarcastic!
