AUDIO: Michael Savage Threatens To Sue ‘Lunatic’ British Home Secretary

savage.jpg[AUDIO FILE BELOW] Conservative US talk show host, Michael Savage, says he will sue the British government for defamation after being placed on a list of people banned from entering the UK.

Michael Savage, real name Michael Alan Weiner, is one of 22 people barred for fostering extremism or hate.

He told his radio audience that he was intending to sue British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, who he described as the “lunatic … Home Secretary of England”.

“To link me up with skinheads who are killing people in Russia, to put me in league with Hamas murderers who kill people on buses is defamation,” he said.

In an article posted on his website, he said he did not advocate violence but “traditional values”.

He wrote: “What does that say about the government of England? It says more about them than it says about me.”

The UK has been able to ban people who promote hatred, terrorist violence or serious criminal activity since 2005, but the list was only made public for the first time this week. Hamas MP Yunis Al-Astal and Jewish extremist Mike Guzovsky are among the 16 named people by the Home Office as being excluded. Also excluded are two leaders of a violent Russian skinhead gang, the ex-Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard Stephen ‘Don’ Black and neo-Nazi Erich Gliebe. The remaining six have not been named, as doing so would not be in the public interest, the government said.

  1. Entry into a country is a privilege not a right. As a non-Brit, he has no “right” to enter the UK. The US frequently denies entry to aliens who are critical of our government. Israel is unusually tolerant in this, but is under no legal duty to be so nice to its critics.

  2. Go, Michael, go!
If the courts can be manipulated by terrorists in Spain, they should come to good use to defend “traditional values” as well.
    Be matzliach!

  3. To akuperma,
While you are legally correct -you fail to understand what the point of the lawsuit is. The sick liberals in GB have taken an outspoken conservative and grouped him with radicals. This action of the British gov. should be an affront to anyone who believes in true democracy. It looks like Great? Britain is about to become another state like Iran, Syria, Lybia, etc. I hope moshiach comes soon, so the Jews can get out of there. This liberal P.C. is making far left dictatorships out of democratic countries. I wonder how far Obama will go with this mentality?

  4. #5, I find it curious that during the last eight, horrible years of Bush/Cheney, conservatives touted the notion regarding liberals, that at least they should show respect to Bush for the office he holds and that he is, in fact, our president. Conservatives seemed to have forgotten their own mantra with regards to the new president, who gets a mixed report card, but so far, is nowhere near the straight F’s that Bush receives. And, for the record, I am not a member, whole heartedly of either camp as they both have severe problems that are ruining the quality of American life. Yet, there are good points to be made from both sides. Being pigeon holed is for pigeons; not humans.

  5. #4 If the UK is now measured at the same level like Iran Libya and the others that means their not so bad, since the Arab country’s bans any Jew from entering their country.

  6. #7, The UK is also banning a Jew from entering for the sole reason of his position on “Islamofascism” which is pretty much in line with the frum community.

  7. #1 He will presumably be suing for defamation, not for the right of entry. He stands a very good chance of winning damages from the minister for defaming his character like that.

Though if the minister’s decision was arbitrary and capricious, he may well be able to force her to let him in too. I don’t know UK law well enough, but in the USA even completely discretionary acts by public servants may not be arbitrary or capricious.

  8. 6,
what EXACTLY was your problem with the 8 years of president bush? i guess you had a problem with (derech ha’teva) not being attacked after 9/11? i guess you had a problem with the quick turnaround of the economy after 9/11 when all g’henim could have broken out? I guess you have a problem with WINNING a war in Iraq??

What else was your problem? I certainly have more of a problem after 100+ days of Obama than of 2920 days of President Bush.

I dont listen to Michael Wiener Savage and I am not a member of the WienerNation but one thing he says that I agree with and that is, “Liberalism Is A Desease.”

Which leads me to the next point… What is your mother’s name because you obviously have the machla called “Liberalism” and you need a major Refuah Sh’laima?

  9. bacci40,

Just curious- are you involved with or have any opinions regarding any idea, concept, or policy other than that associated with defending the democratic party/putting down the republican party?

  10. #10, why would a rov object to someone listening to his show, asuming that it wasn’t an issue of bitul torah (e.g. in the bathroom, or a woman)?

  11. #11, stop being sarcastic because someone disagrees with you. If you think no valid argument can be made EVEN BY CONSERVATIVES against the Bush/Cheney years, then we have nothing to talk about.

  12. #10. An alleged frum site? Your post did not succeed in portraying you as more pious than the rest of us. Nice posture, but you are here with the rest of us.
