I would like to close the following two threads:
Post Here and Come Back to CR.
They are great threads but I think they served their purpose. There are a lot of other light, conversational threads such as:
POY
Gen Shmooze
Espionage
New Members
CR Lurkers
Mazal Tov
I Remember
Marketing
The front page is getting cluttered. There are conversations that cross between these threads and others. The conversationalists themselves are getting mixed up as to what they said and where. I think it would be beneficial to close even 3 or 4 more of these threads but I’m afraid of a massive uprising.Please comment in this thread, General Shmooze2 if you have a strong objection to closing those two threads mentioned above
80- there aren’t many people around now to object. This should wait for Sunday or Monday
(Though I do object to the marketing thread joining that list- I do not object to closing the 2 you suggested)
The marketing thread was listed as one of the light threads on which to converse. It was not listed as being slated for closure in the near future…80
Each indevidual thread has its own aspect that makes it unique. There are different things to be said on each and I do not find it a hinderence to the CR. The CR is not only a place to discuss heavy material and I dont see these conversations disturbing any other one.
mepal Each one IS a little different, but in my opinion not different enough to warrant the confusion. Maybe you and a few others can handle it, but many posters can’t. Thank you for discussing this calmly and reasonably

Seriously, I dont see it as being confusing. If you (not, as in, you in particular. Anyone reading it) cant follow it, then I’m really sorry. But for the rest of us, why not enjoy the fun?
I object! I think there are better threads to close than that one, and one thing it has going for it is that there is never any fighting or l”h on it and I think that’s a very big plus.
I don’t disagree with you kapusta, those are very fine threads. I’m sure we could add another 10 very pleasant fun threads as well. I just think we are a little over the limit already. There has to be a shiur in everything (except Talmud Torah, etc.)
I don’t think you will lose any opportunites for shmoozing and having fun in General Shmooze, etc.

If I had to choose I would say maybe the lottery thread. (with all due respect to the thread “starter”) I think it doesn’t really serve a purpose (even though there are probably others that dont, this was just the first that came to mind) Its unlikely to win the lottery, and anyone who does probably wouldn’t post about it in the CR. I think its more of an essay topic, its just brainstorming. I’m not saying it should be closed, but if one has to be closed, I would probably choose that one. I’m not clear altogether why any one has to be closed at all.

Since this is general shmooze, I think that business about “calling it a night” doesn’t make sense. When you go to sleep at night, you call it a day, since the day is over and you’re sleeping at night. anyone follow?
mod80: i’m not a big fan of having threads shut down! but i do see your point in saying the ”Post here thread” & the ”come back to the CR” thread have done it’s purpose! those two threads are starting to sound more like General Shmooze as the days go on! (ok, i might have added to that too!) and along with the page looking cluttered!
I Jax Chairman of the CR Board, vote to shut those two threads, in order so that they can fall off the page! yes, the page does look cluttered! but i would like to ask, if the need arise that those two threads are once again needed, that at some point they can once again be re-opened!?
& in a closing post in those two threads, please add a comment re-directing members to use General Shmooze instead of those shut down threads!
My only question is, do you think general shmooz will explode (too many posts at once)? If you have five posters at once posting on the same thread, if anything, its much harder to follow.
I still agree with mepal (sorry Jax and mod 80)
Once it’s closed its very unlikely that it will be re-opened, and I think that it was kept alive for a reason. If no one had any “use” for it, it would’ve been off the page a while ago. Not everyone likes every thread, thats the way it is. I still dont see the point of closing it.
