Off topic, but isn’t it sad how that joke doesn’t work anymore? It was so much more understandable when you could say “That and a nickel will buy you a subway fare”. Now it’s times 45.May 13, 2009 4:31 pm at 4:31 pm #1122067JayMatt19Participant

Happy Birthdy to YW Moderator-39 on the 25th of Iyar. don’t forget to stop in and give “39” a Brocho.
I almost forgot, “39” should give all of us a Brocho also!May 18, 2009 6:18 pm at 6:18 pm #1122071
so… mod39 is no longer in existence. Mod40 has taken his place.
May this life altering event be with much mazel 😉May 18, 2009 7:36 pm at 7:36 pm #1122072mepalMember
Happy Birthday ’39!May 18, 2009 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm #1122073
funny areivim, I would have been 25 (as in Iyar 25, but that was taken).May 18, 2009 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #1122074May 18, 2009 8:42 pm at 8:42 pm #1122075
no, you missed the point. I would have been Mod25, since I was born the 25th of Iyar, since that was taken I became Mod39. Why 39? Since the 25th of Iyar is the 40th day of the Omer. And just like we don’t count Shavous as day 50, I thought it would be wise to stop at Mod39 and not become Mod40May 18, 2009 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #1122076

question: why does 72 know 39’s birthday?May 18, 2009 9:50 pm at 9:50 pm #1122080
happy birthday, mod-39!
ames: this may come as a shock but there is a whole world outside of the cr. & many people out there have the same birthdays.May 18, 2009 10:01 pm at 10:01 pm #1122081
ames: example: i have a friend in my class, a few lockers down actually, who has the same birthday as me. i seriously doubt you would ever be able to figure out which one of us is “aob” even if you narrowed it down that much.May 18, 2009 10:15 pm at 10:15 pm #1122082
ames: you’re really nice for admitting that so quickly 🙂 hey do you have any answer to my random question?May 19, 2009 12:51 am at 12:51 am #1122083

6,000,000,000+ people in the world. Only 354 (OK, 384 if you count Adar II) days to choose from. Punching the numbers into my slide rule…… Hold on, the number is too big.
If you stick 23 people in a room……
Happy Birthday, Mod39

ames or squeak or whoever: so now that we’ve come to the conclusion that lots of people share birthdays, how can it be such personal info & a danger to share? & more than your name or where you live?May 21, 2009 3:22 am at 3:22 am #1122090
ames: that’s true. so why are birthdays specifically not allowed? we know some people’s names, their ages, where they live, places they go, etc. so what’s the big secrecy with birthdays?May 21, 2009 3:09 pm at 3:09 pm #1122091
aob, I thought sharing all of those things were not allowed.
Really, the issue is with teenagers. Adults (generally) know what is safe to share and what is not. But teenagers rarely think things through before posting (if you don’t believe me, check a random teenager’s profile on a social site). So for the sake of protecting young people from damaging themselves (and as we know, the CR is/was dominated by teens) the rules are not to say who you are, or where you will be going, etc. A very good rule, and it’s a credit to the mods who enforce it well.May 21, 2009 9:48 pm at 9:48 pm #1122092
squeak: right, but they still go through. i was just wondering why they were so strict with birthdays if not as much with other pieces of information. (unless they are trying to moderate more strictly recently & this is where i’m seeing it.) and why are hebrew birthdays any different than english ones?May 22, 2009 12:54 am at 12:54 am #1122093
see the baal teshuva problems thread? there we have half his life story but G-d forbid we know his birthday (which he shares with who knows how many people)?? it seems pretty inconsistent.May 22, 2009 5:15 am at 5:15 am #1122094

I may be a teen and i may not care if people know who I am but the reason I dont care is because im not too worried that someone will try to murder me or something and even they did Im not to worried about them lolMay 22, 2009 7:29 am at 7:29 am #1122096

well you must have a very special mother because anyone born on this day is very special!!!
would you like to know some special facts about may 24?
-the brooklyn bridge opened on may 24 1833
-berlin blockade may 24 1948
-queen victoria and bob dylan were born!!!
kapusta-does this match your mothers personality because ppl born on this day tend to have this personality:
ppl born on this day are very entertaining-some say they display dual personality. they have great intelligence but do not take kindly to defeat!!!
btw kapusta-wish your mother a very happy birthday from believer!!!May 24, 2009 11:27 pm at 11:27 pm #1122110
believer, I’m pretty sure you’re not my mother because I dont think she could find YWN or even get online without my knowing it. Yes her personality does fit, mostly. And I think I’ll refrain from wishing her a happy birthday from you because I would prefer not to reveal my kapusta status, and tell her about the CR, but thanx!
