I should like to have a hobby something to capture my interest in my scant free time i have tried different puzzles but they never work out i either get frustrated or lose interest any ideas for a fun yet inexpensive hobby?

Yes I am sure someone will tell me to learn Torah and I do but i need something fun to do just for me.

About a decade ago, I became very interested in photography and continue with it to this day.

I also enjoy cooking and writing.

buy a microscope. (I don’t know about anyone else, but I could spend hours in front of a microscope just looking at all sorts of random things.)

Maybe learn to play a musical instrument? Or try your hand at painting/drawing. You never know where your talents lie if you don’t try…

Blogging is somewhat dead as bloggers have moved more towards FB

    You had to self-promote yourself

You havent stated your interests so its hard to guess

Blogging is only dead if you don’t do it. It’s better than FB if you’re serious because it’s more yours.

If you still work as a cashier and your writing topic is of broad appeal (best is probably for kids) you can ask your boss for permission to distribute it at your register – or all registers if possible. You’d need to print it though and have a decent layout. Good luck!

If you’re up for reading a little bit in order to do things the “right way” (or just learning as you go along but then it’s harder to start):

    Handywork

    Crafting

    Gardening

Building electronic circuits (you can start with basic on/off light switches and get as far as your imagination/interest will take you)

Learn music -> Pick up an instrument or vocal training

If you like languages there are all sorts of tools to help you pick them up these days

These days just about every subject under the sun can be studied online – there are even full semester-long course loads available for free (including all of the above subjects)

    Good luck 🙂

Actually writing does appeal to me but how do you get people to read what you write?

Post it on the Coffee Room, or send it to the FJJ

(Flatbush Jewish Journal), who dedicate a good

few pages in the back to letters.

As some may have noticed, I’ve taken an interest in board

and card games (etc.) – they’re not just for kids.

(I’m actually planning on starting two threads about them.)

Of all the suggestions here, I like photography the best. It’s gratifying to capture family moments but also just pictures of interesting things. Plus with the various online technology you can edit pictures for special effects.

But I also enjoy playing computer brain games, either online or some handheld device, such as scrabble, or just other word games such as seeing how many smaller words you can make out of the letters in a longer word.

There’s always watching, reading, or listening to

various media, if that counts as a hobby.
