80- Why are honest dicussions getting shut down. im not rabble-rousing and honestly just want an answer. if youre gona delete this then could you answer me in another thread in a way no one will chap?
Instead of closing threads, I think it is wiser to delete all offending posts including a off-topic or inappropriate sub-discussion that develops. Delete all those posts (which will usually effectively end the bad posts), and let the thread live.

first of all because i post a lot, all the other moderators post little or not at all, i seem to be held responsible for every instance of moderation that occurs on this site
secondly, and this has been discussed here, in detail, many times, there are a whole variety of reasons why threads are closed, posts are deleted and edited, and i am not inclined to defend the moderation decisions further. we do not have the time to explain every action and respond to the (apparently) never ending posts (which are generally deleted) why did you delete this, close this edit this?

unfortunately this is not always the case.
we do generally try that first but often it is innefective and our delete button stars getting hot, at which time the thread is closed.
there are other reasons for closing threads.

and because a discussion is honest (and civil) does not a priori mean it belongs on yeshiva world.
