Now that covid is starting to fade the question is the lack of civility here to stay?
People have been call rotzchim and killers on one side and mosrim and kapos on the other.
A shul in Florida banned people from recieving kibbudim for operating a outdoor minyan one shabbos, and certain mosdos banned peole who informed from using th shuls services.
The question is now that covid bh appears to be fading out do we forgive and forget or have certain people crossed a line that is not acceptable?I guess you’re asking whether the name calling was meant literally.
Covid is not the first example of this behavior. Some people hold grudges longer than others. And with these kinds of people money is always a factor……….
COVID just brought out what was under the surface. These OU souls are still figuring out if they should open.

I wouldn’t even daven with someone who thought that was merely a maybe.

First of all I think you missed the joke. Second, I didn’t say anything about mesirah; I said I wouldn’t daven with people who even had a tzad that it was ok to daven with possible/potential murderers. Third, what counts as a moser is not that simple. If you believe that maskless indoor shuls are/were possible/potential murderers, then it isn’t at all obvious that mesirah applies. Fourth, an argument can be made that maskless indoor shulgoers are/were themselves enemies of Hashem’s people. That said, I don’t pray for anyone specifically to “extirpated.”I am not sure there was much of informing going on. I think most people just walked around the maskless. Maybe reporting yungeleit to Roshei Yeshiva or Kollel (in places where the latter cared).
I did not hear about people calling police on unmasked minyanim. Was it happeningI am also not sure what’s the deal with refusing kibud to those who davened outside. Again, outside of my experience. What exactly is the accusation? separating from the tzibur? making the others feel guilty? following hukat goyim?
If the people who held the pirate minyan do not want to abide by their shul’s rules they should leave and start their own shul. This is a hallowed Jewish tradition.

R Berel Wein writes that if there are 100 Jews in a city, Hashem wants to have one shul with 100 people. Jews make 10 shuls with 10 people. Then, as you suggest, we end up with 11 shuls with 9 people. now, R Wein is a Litvish historian, if you can say that, so Hasidim might disagree.
As I understand the halakha, if people truly cannot stand each other, then they should form different shuls.
Even when my husband was alive we would comment on the lack of civility here in the Coffee Room. It predates the pandemic.
I don’t remember your husband and I am truly sorry for your loss, especially as he must have been young young.
I do find it odd, considering how you “speak” to others here, that you would be complaining about lack of civility.
AAQ – whenever i hear people tell that story as if it’s not a horrible stain on who we are, and something we should be utterly shamed about i feel very sad for us.
I don’t apologize for being direct. My spouse posted very little here. We mostly used the CR for entertainment, ya know, dramatic readings of someones tirade.
Just a thought. While there behaviors are not new, there was not much going on in the first month of the shutdowns. So these things were all magnified. And while during a different time we could debate all the politics and unseen motives, this time we had a much clearer view of how certain public figures think.
Last year I insisted that there is nothing to gain by being critical of either party. And I am still sticking by that. What happened later in the summer is a different story.
Always, don’t you know that every Jew needs two shuls and why?
