November 10, 2010 10:10 pm at 10:10 pm #852063bptParticipantBritish. It make the biggest nonsense sould like rocket science.
November 10, 2010 10:14 pm at 10:14 pm #852064blinkyParticipantinteresting question- i think English tops it all- very proper (pronounced prowpur- or something like that)
my least favorite- chassidish i can never understand what they are saying- too muffled for me!
November 10, 2010 10:16 pm at 10:16 pm #852065JamParticipantAustralian – its the perfect balance.
November 10, 2010 10:20 pm at 10:20 pm #852066squeakParticipantI like the way fish sound when they talk.
November 10, 2010 10:23 pm at 10:23 pm #852067shimmelMemberAgreed.. British accent!! Its sooo elegant, specially the singsong it comes along with..
November 10, 2010 10:42 pm at 10:42 pm #852068bptParticipant“chassidish i can never understand what they are saying- too muffled for me”
That’s true of the men, perhaps. The women, on the other hand, seem to speak an almost unnaturally good english (especially the one from Brooklyn).
Probably because they learnt it from school only, without the “streettalk” that is picked up on radio and ‘other media’ <can’t say the word in public>
November 10, 2010 10:48 pm at 10:48 pm #852069A23ParticipantUngarish
November 10, 2010 11:42 pm at 11:42 pm #852070myfriendMemberUngarish isn’t an accent. That is the proper accent and pronunciation.
November 10, 2010 11:46 pm at 11:46 pm #852071SacrilegeMemberI’m a xenophobe 🙂
November 11, 2010 12:06 am at 12:06 am #852072Sister BearMemberSouthern!!!!!! It’s the cutest thing in the world 🙂

November 11, 2010 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm #852082theprof1ParticipantLe’maaseh the south african is the best sounding. But its the British accent that impresses people. The Brits are cultured, just like yogurt.
November 11, 2010 2:08 pm at 2:08 pm #852083YW fanParticipant#3 Blinky, it is Brittish NOT ENGLISH!
ICOT, WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?
November 11, 2010 2:17 pm at 2:17 pm #852084SacrilegeMemberSmile
Yea, ’twas a joke…. not the Scottish one, Scots’ have a pretty slick accent.
November 11, 2010 2:22 pm at 2:22 pm #852085theprof1ParticipantThe Scot’s accent actually is a British accent affected by drinking single malt scotch all the time. The Irish accent comes from drinking too much Irish coffee. The South African accent is a blend of British and Boer.
November 11, 2010 2:33 pm at 2:33 pm #852086tunabeigel123MemberBritish is the best. I learnt in gateshead the geordie accent is really cool.

Saddly, you’r not as big a geek as you think – on Star Trek “Scotty” did not have an Irish accent.
And most Australians really are just stonied Englishmen.
November 11, 2010 3:31 pm at 3:31 pm #852095SacrilegeMemberPhrum
Honestly, I have never watched a minute of Star Trek… not my thing.
I was commenting on oomis’s type over for accent unfortunately I forgot to put the “;)” so you would know I was only kidding.
Altho, Hugh Jackman… I can listen to THAT Australian accent all day…

November 11, 2010 4:05 pm at 4:05 pm #852097WIYMemberCertain South American accents (when they are light not too heavy) sound very soothing.
November 11, 2010 4:11 pm at 4:11 pm #852098SacrilegeMemberEvery city in the UK has a different dialect. For example Sean Connery is from Edinburgh (I think) while Craig Ferguson is born in Glasgow… completely different!
November 11, 2010 4:14 pm at 4:14 pm #852099theprof1ParticipantHow come nobody mentioned Shicawgoh?

London sounds most professional but I cant understand Manchester- they sound like it hurts to talk. Like they are tripping over their own teeth.

I’m a fan of comedy, period. Yea, I think he’s funny, coupled with his ridiculous accent and zero sense of shame he pulls off a good show. Cant believe you like him… he says some pretty racy things.
November 11, 2010 4:36 pm at 4:36 pm #852107WIYMemberSacrilege
I have Canadian friends. The “aye” gets on my nerves. So much fun making fun of Canadians to their face about their accent 🙂 (who would have thought I’m so evil lol)
November 11, 2010 5:20 pm at 5:20 pm #852110SacrilegeMemberWIY

November 11, 2010 5:56 pm at 5:56 pm #852112metrodriverMemberPoster # 8; A23; Ungarish is more than a mere accent. It encompasses many languages. There is Yiddish with a Hungarian accent. (YOY). Then there is Hebrew spoken in Hungarian. Also, English spoken with that sing-song Hungarian accent is music? to the ears.
November 11, 2010 5:57 pm at 5:57 pm #852113SacrilegeMemberWIY
You made it too easy.
November 11, 2010 5:59 pm at 5:59 pm #852114metrodriverMemberThe Russian accent is also very interesting when applied to Yiddish, Hebrew or English.
