Thank you for your response. I meantr if schools can have FREE Lunch paid by the government maybe we dont the added expense of Catered Lunch. And regarding school trips they NEVER CONSIDER ASKING THE PARENTS FOR A VOTE. And Kids feel peer envy when the SCHOOL says there will be a School Trip. I also meant maybe the better financially doing parents can take their child with them when they go to other countries or states several times a year or can buy them catered food at home. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ideally our community needs a “Town Hall”. There are families of different means in our lovely community. B”H we have people of means who help others tremendously beyond the call of duty in charity whether HAtsala or the poor or yeshivas. Then on the other end there are decent hard working financially struggling families. Besides Tuition for each child from nursery through 12th grade in the thousands there are Additional Undisucssed Fees Tagging Along As well! Each child ALSO needs to pay about $500 for CATERED LUNCH, about $500 for TRIPS susch as to other states or the country for a weekend or water rafting. (I understand there are many families that may travel several times a year to hotels across the country and trips to Europe and Israel a few times a year. IS the YESHIVA Catering to THEIR needs when they expect on top of tuition many hundreds more for the NEEDS of goging water rafting or snow tubing or camping during school season. In Europe or Israel or even 15 years ago in the USA did we have these added Expenses??? Who are the Yeshivas catering to? Is there not also CAMP EXPENSES families pay for in the summer as well???? Are the Yeshivas Really having in mind Affordability for EVERY JEWISH FAMILY???????? I WISH WE CAN HAVE A MEETING OR TOWN HALL. I am even willing to have “Working class family” Yeshivas for those that are Middle to Lower class families. THen the more well to do schools can even have trips to Israel and Switzerland.

I wanted to clarify I understand many Yeshivas and girls schools have tight budgets and its ashame we pay taxes for public schools while our schools dont get nearly as much funds for the nonReligous subjects and services of the schools. And of course our community has so many fine wonderful philanthropic parents , some who go to hotels and some who dont, ๐Ÿ˜‰ I was just anxious due to the pressing tuition issue personally for my family here in Brooklyn. I was concerned how we can financially manage it – not sure what more proof (if it matters even) one can bring beyond 1040’s or the like. As I also pointed out earlier in this thread – it seems at least perhaps by my boy and girls schools perhaps there can be more trimming of expenses. and sensitivity with trip plannings and the like. TO help bring down the burden on the struggling parents side.

Not to get too specific I live in Flatbush. The boys wear hats. And children may see their stressed parents and budgeting to afford what they need. Perhaps wondering how much can be alleivated by using the aid from government and perhaps not catering lunch when it can be Free or needing $250 and $250 or so trips per child per year on top of the tuition.

Also, regarding your reference to shoplifting – we are respectable working families who ourselves have been in yeshivas and regularly attend shiuriim and davening. When I post about tuition which is hard for most middle class families it is because we dont know how we can afford to enroll all our innocent Jewish children and very much want to but are concerned. May some view some yeshiva administrations as respectable while families that show they can not afford what they are asking for are ignored. If you cant pay too bad. Thats what I meant by is this a country club or as Rabbi Wolbe called yeshivas – Binyanei HaUma Molders of the Nation!

I do not complain that others may go to hotels in different states or other countries several times a year. Many do not and if you can afford it Great. Excellent. Its your full right.
But if Torah Schools are the RESPONSABILITY OF KEHILAS YAAKOV should Innocent Jewish children and their stressed parents suffer if PERHAPS yeshivas cater to families that have no trouble paying for CATERED LUNCH for each child and School Trips of about $500 per child or similar things that May have been considered. MANY families struggle paying many thousands of dollars for tuition – and Quite a FEw struggle a lot. Can you direct me to ther POORER Jews Yeshivas then!?

This is a letter from a parent of several children in yeshivas. We have trouble financially and even qualify for government assistance. Yet the yeshivas are charging us such that we don’t know how we can manage. Besides the agreed tuition amounts we also are pressed to pay about $500 for school lunches per child because the school “needs” to order catered food, about $500 per child for shabbatons and trips and of course about $500 for registration. In contrast public schools are free with free lunches.
I understand Baruch Hashem many members go to hotels in Florida or Las Vegas for several Yomim Tovim and have new cars for each family member. But what should struggling families do? Are the yeshivas truly taking adantage of the free aid given to private schools to alleviate the burden on struggling but loyal Jewish families? Is there a need for coach bus trips to ther states a few times a year or catered lunches when it can be free? Is this a community Yeshiva or a country club? When I was studying in yeshiva I did not realize it may be a “privilidged school”.

However the OU can send out an alert or on their site that the mobile truck is not certified for any food produced on it and maybe the restaurants in the area can be educated about it so they can let consumers know, whether they are asked or not. Their is also a Chabad truck nearby so they can also let people know.

Can someone please pass by and take a picture and forward to the OU. This is a Big Michshal (Stumbling block) to the public. It is not Kosher as it is an unsupervised mobile truck with just one non-Jewish appearing person inside making veggie burgers or the like. But the OU said they need a photo. May Jews pass here as it is right by Broadway kosher meat restaurants and Bravos kosher pizza. Someone please have this taken care of. I’ve seen some people innocently going to it

But when may Rabbanim publicly speak out against the Israeli government for trying to draft charedim and Satmar camps thrill their children with mock protests against Israel and throwing eggs at Israels Prime MInisters car and some Satmar rav in Israel says frum Israeli soldiers should be chased out of shul and on the other hand there is no COunter Voice seen in the public eye of Rabbanim speaking Against Joining with Mortal Enemies of the Jewish people or lack of Derech Erets or even HAkaras Hatov to Soldiers Protecting Erets Yisroel Al Pi Teva, as Yehushua, Gideon and David to name a few is it a Chilul Hashem?

Sorry for not being clearer on “D)”.

I meant if many Rabbonim do agree to speak out and even have a rally against Israels policies such as charedi draft, does it make sense to be silent when it goes the other way such as chilul hashem of joining with enemies of the Jews in Israel in protests or shaming and kicking a frum Isaeli soldier out of shul or in the street or trashing the home of a Lubavitcher rabbi in Israel for agreeing to a compromise regarding army service, and their being Silent. And regarding those that say it is just Torah that protects us and not soldiers, would they like us to disband Hatsalah and the NYPD as Hashem protects us! Why did Yehoshua fight Amalek and Gideon and King David be Generals in war defending Israel of old?!?

But A) Is it True that Neturei Karta are the foot soldiers of Satmar

    B) Is it Treason (Bogdim) to demonstrate toegther with Arab enemies of Israel (we pray daily against the Malshinim and Bogdim)

    C) Is it a Chilul Hashem and great lack of Hakaras Hatov to shame a frum Israeli soldier or kick him out of a minyan?

    D) if many do speak out against ISRAEL every now and then, then why is there silence in the face of what seems to be Chilul Hashem and Treason to Hashem’s people???

I am sure if asked we will get a clear answer and we clarify of “Shtika KHodaa”.

From your link it seems Rav Shteinman (hope everyone is noticing my more careful spelling) was concerned he was being recorded and would not want to be recorded saying he may join the IDF during the big commotion over the drafting of yeshiva men during the previous coalition. This seems the true case as in India it is hard to grow in learning, raise a frum family and find a minyan (in the whole country) It also may be very hard finding shiduchim. Can one join the Indian army?

Have not big rabbanim spoken out strongly against the Israeli government? If they indeed are not aware of what is going on we should let them know so they can make the needed proclamations. If rabbanim speak out then where these hoodlums react there will ALSO be Proper people who will come to the defense of the victems and break the chillul hashem. If , perhaps due to such media as YW, it is publicised some now take money from Satmar they need to know what happens at Satmar camps (as per YW videos) teaching yingellas to protest against Israel and throw eggs at the prime minister.

Surely some (or many?) Talmidim view YW (only filtered we hope) and should indeed bring it up to their rebbes. We need to present a clear picture and hear from the rabbanim

I am having trouble understanding – many rabbanim happily publilcy clearly Protest against Israeli practices involving for example yeshiva men in the army but are SILENT!! when yeshiva people or their chassidim kick out a frum soldier that wanted to join a minyan!! DERECH ERETS KADMA LTORAH!! WHat about HAKARAS HATOV for protecting us from the sea of terrorists trying to kill all the Jews in ISrael!!! Is it NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT?!?!? IS this SATMAR INFLUENCE??? Please tell us so we can feel comfortable knowing either that t is OKAY to scream at Israeli soldiers to kick them out of a minyan OR that it is Wrong and As You Strongly COnemn the government for trying to draft yeshiva people – as Equals of secular Jews – but are SILENT when frum soldiers are kicked and shamed out of shul!!

In my oped I was merely saying its outragous the US is paying hundreds of Millions of dollars to the Palestinian terrorist Authority while for years they glorify and indoctrinate the killing of Jews in their media and mosques and schools. That they actually pay stipends from US money to terrorists families an in Israeli jails. That its about time we rallied en mass like when 100,000 rallied in Washingto during Pres Bush’s term for Israel. THis is too controversial?!? I also said we should say Tehilim, pray and learn more torah. Why is this not accepted – its not like we have op eds most days even and the situation in Israel is UNBEARABLE?????

Regarding the issue of “other woman working there” I directly addressed this in the other thread (re female only job ads)

Unless you walk around your office disrobed or hug each other, I’m not sure why there should be “complications”.

How do you go to the grocery store or the city bus?

If you mean Yichud, cant that be solved by not leaving the door locked or other relatively easy means.

Regarding “Crisis” – You prbably havent read ANY Newspaper or Internet News Media for A Couple of Years?

Theres a Major Economic and Job Crisis in the US right now for a few years.

I must say I am impressed and happy to see all the people here that are cncerned.

Coincidentally while I am from Flatbush I am open to jobs even in NJ or Monsey if need be.

I actually did post something on Luach as an experienced and skilled QB person and added that an employer would also gain by helping a family of 6 Yidden — would you believe not one email was sent to me (except 2 who thought it was a job ad)

I might in the end start answering “secy/bookkeeper ads” and see what happens.

Maybe Jewish Frum Organizations need to look at the sad Employment Crisis and Address the Issue that Especially in the Frum Word we need to end a Tendency in Many Office jobs to be “For WOmen Only” and start giving Parnassah Opportunities to All. If the Tsadikim want to see woman perhaps they can just stroll along the board walk (actually dont do that – just being sarcastic)

    a) I am talking USA (see the female only ads in the Jewish classified sites and papers)

    b) if I (or any man?) have a job we wouldn’t mind being the “odd man out” – I was for many years the “odd Jew out” as well.

Also for an all female office, why should that keep men from parnassah. In your streets do men and women walk on different streets or trains? Tachlis is Tachlis. Office is not a dating or social place – its a parnassah place.

Hi, if you notice in my post I ended it “equal job openings for equal pay” Furthermore in times as these many men would indeed agree to lower salaries. And on the other hand being a Shylock by only hiring Mexicans or women because they think they can pay less is also wrong in Halacha (gezeila) and by taking an opportunity for Frum men for parnassah for their family as well
